Sunday Mornings

"Heroes of the Faith" - July Worship Series

Heroes do not just belong in comic books and blockbuster movies. We have them in real life too – people whose courage, strength, and resilience we can look up to as models for our own lives. In this summer series, we will meet four outstanding heroes from our faith story. Their readiness to listen to God’s voice in their lives and act on it inspires us to do the same.” Daily scripture readings are available on the tables outside the sanctuary.

We Welcome Our New Music Director, Robert Galbreath

It may be a holiday weekend, but we at First UMC Oak Park have additional cause to celebrate: the start of Robert Galbreath, our new Music Director. He comes to us with many years of music experience, which includes extensive time as a church musician. We look forward to his voice, original arrangements, and all the ways in which he will lead our music ministry.

Each week we will dive deeper into the Sunday morning scriptures (and their accompanying texts). Taking time for Scripture study and discussion is an important part of our Christian discipleship, and our tradition as Methodists. Attend as often as you can!

 

Use whatever study Bible or Bible app you choose. If you are in need of a study Bible, please let Pastor Megan know.

Wednesdays

Weaving Plastic Sleeping Mats

10:30a- Noon

Join us in weaving sleeping mats from disposable plastic bags.  The mats will benefit the housing insecure  who are served by the Midwest Mission.

 

You can also help by saving and donating clean, used plastic bags like the kind you get from a grocery store.  Bags cannot have been used to transport items that leave a residue or odor and must be dry.

Want to learn more about what it means to be a a Christian, a United Methodist , and/or part of the First United Methodist Church family?  Join us for this informative session learning some of the basics while getting better acquainted with the pastor, some folks already active in the church, and others exploring just like you.

 

Watch for announcements of when the next session will be or reach out to the pastor in the meanwhile for what your next steps in discipleship might be.
